Tips On Cold Weather Maintainance for Your Pond!!

*Keep Your Pump Running!!! Moving water should not freeze.

*If you do not have a skimmer make sure your pump is not sitting on the bottom of the pond. If it is raise it at least 6" off the bottom.

*If you do develop a solid layer of ice on your pond and it is still there after 3 days, make a hole in the ice. DO NOT HIT THE ICE!! Boil water in a pan, take the pan and sit it on the ice to melt a hole. You may have to do this several times before the hole develops (depending on how thick the ice is..)

*Keep an EYE on Your Waterfall!! If the ice develops on your waterfall, make sure water is not spilling out the back or down the sides. This will drain your pond.

*You can use an aeriator or a de-icer on the surface of the water to keep it from freezing over
